This year, Macomb Literacy Partners and Oakland Literacy Council are again joining forces to raise awareness and funds for literacy in southeast Michigan. We are excited to announce our Second Annual Run 2 Read race event! Run 2 Read will be held at Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township, on Saturday, June 9 , 2012. The race includes a 5K run/walk and 10K run. Stony Creek is the perfect, picturesque setting for our event. It is symbolically significant; that is, the park crosses county lines, just as literacy does. In working together, we can effect greater change through partnerships.
We
need your help--please consider becoming a sponsor for Run
2 Read
and registering as a participant. Your financial support will enable
our programs to continue to offer one-on-one free tutoring to adults
who have low literacy skills. We’ve outlined the various
sponsorship levels on the accompanying documents, including our
online registration process. We encourage you to “spread the word”
about Run
2 Read
to your co-workers, family and friends.
As non-profit organizations, Macomb Literacy Partners and Oakland Literacy Council rely on the generosity from the business community and individual donors. Funds help support tutor training, student testing and placement, conversation groups, materials and staff.
Our literacy organizations began in 1984, and have since helped tens of thousands of adults improve their literacy skills. Students enrolled in our programs enjoy a better quality of life and are more able to contribute to healthy communities.
